OPEN DAY AT WHITEHOUSE AND GRANGE BOWLING CLUB

Saturday 2nd May, 2009.

For the past 137 years, many residents of this area have enjoyed the peaceful tranquillity and wonderful setting of Whitehouse and Grange Bowling Club.   In warm mornings, hot afternoons and balmy evenings, women and men of all ages have enjoyed the fun of participating in the game of bowls on our green at Hope Terrace.

We are a financially secure, well run Bowling Club.   Whether you are an experienced bowler or just a beginner you will find happiness and enjoyment within walking distance of your home.   Free coaching by Qualified Scotland Bowls Coaches is available.   After your game enjoy a welcome post-match refreshment in our charming 19th century Clubhouse.

Last season we were delighted to win the prestigious Top Five Singles Competition run by the Edinburgh and Leith Bowling Association.   All of the Bowling Clubs in the City enter this competition.   We were absolutely delighted that the name of Whitehouse and Grange is now engraved on the beautiful trophy.   Over the years we have provided internationalists, county players and won a host of silverware.

Notwithstanding these achievements we are always delighted to welcome new members to the Club regardless of previous experience.

As a matter of interest several of the beginners who joined two years ago are now playing in our League teams.   This is no doubt due to the  ability of the individuals and the perceptive guidance of our coaching.   It does however confirm that we are an ambitious club keen to emulate the achievements of our forefathers.

This year we have a special offer.   The offer is:   No Joining Fee and Half-price annual subscription of £50 for your  first year.   We will  supply the bowls and the expertise – you just need flat-soled shoes.   We look forward to welcoming you at 18a Hope Terrace on

Saturday 2nd May, 2009 from 10.00 a.m. until 5 .00 p.m.

If you would like more  information please telephone the Club Secretary, Bob Tait at 0131 667 2721
